FAA celebrated over 33 years of dedicated services and advocacy in the Bay Area by honoring its social justice partners in this year's annual dinner event and program.
Over 225 guests joined us at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center on May 10th where we paid tribute to Congressmen Mike Honda and Bob Filner, Andrea Dehlendorf (SEIU 1877), John Fong (AYPAL), Maria Pascual Rogers (PILA), and Cathi Tactaquin (NNIRR). These partners share our commitment to change and have made significant contributions to advance FAA’s social justice campaigns: recognition and equal benefits for Filipino WWII veterans, decent wages, working conditions and access to health insurance for low-wage
airport workers, youth leadership development, voter engagement, and just immigration reform. The evening's highlights included a special recognition ceremony for Filipino WWII veterans, and video greetings from both Congressmen Filner and Honda.
LIKHA, Pilipino Folk Ensemble provided the captivating musical entertainment for the evening. The delicious food was catered by Dominic Ainza, chef at Poleng Lounge and partner at Mercury Appetizer Bar in San Francisco and a former FAA Youth Counselor. Former staff Abe Ignacio and Mel Orpilla provided exciting twists on traditional desserts. Our emcee's were Rissa Duque, previously an FAA youth counselor, and Anatalio
Ubalde.
